Some would call the 2005 Devinci Santiago a high-performance hybrid, while others would call it a flat-bar road bike. We just call it fast. Carbon fibre is light-weight and stiff, and the Santiago uses a lot of it: the rear half of the frame is carbon, as well as the cranks, the fork, the seatpost, and the handlebar. Combined with quick- and smooth-shifting Shimano Ultegra gearing, this bike is all about speed. We have one, in an XL frame suitable for someone with an inseam of at least 33 inches. Week 31: 20″ Kona Hoss LAST WEEK
The 2009 Kona Hoss is a beefy cross-country mountain bike: what Kona describes as a “Clydesdale,” perfect for a heavier rider or slightly rougher use. We have one left, with a 20″ frame, which is appropriate for someone with at least a 32 inch inseam. It comes equipped with a Marzocchi DJ2 fork for riding hard on trails and an XT Shadow rear derailleur for extremely smooth shifting.
